i woke up this morning to the news that the pope has had a heart failure. this set me thinking. as usual, i got myself a few questions to address the matter at hand - life.
what is life? what exactly is religion? what do religion and life got to do with each other? why is life so fragile, so delicate at times, yet tough at other times? what is the meaning of life?
i shall not attempt to even answer my questions - they are beyond my understanding. Man's understanding.
the news of the pope having had a heart failure hit me like a brick between my eyes. im astounded. im confused. im in the dark. the head of a hierachy, established over thousands of years ago, exhibiting the flawed qualities of Man. parkinson's, heart failure, weak state of health. and what not. how are we supposed to lead lives trying to be happy when someone as holy, as significiant as the pope is not able to turn back the passage of time, to resist the downfalls that come with age, to lead effectively when he too knows that life is fragile and he is as vulnerable to sicknesses as the rest of us?
this is not a question of faith. it will come later. but this is just me trying to be a philosopher, trying to figure out what life is, what life holds and what exactly is our soul.
i end this entry on a sad, negative note. are YOU ready to celebrate ur next birthday, knowing full well that life is a design with numerous loopholes intentionally left there, knowing full well that our body, our brain, our soul may just well shut down on us? are YOU willing to spend your life pursuing useless things (useful only when it comes to surviving in this rat race most of us are embroiled in) called degrees, qualifications?
do not dwell on this matter. our 'intelligence' as a member of mankind, as homosapiens, is too limited. we are but underlings, experiments.
